Christmas Giving 2019

In 2017 Donal Blaney, the Managing Director of Griffin Law, set up The Griffin Law Charitable Foundation to support local and national charities and other deserving causes. Each month, the trustees of the Foundation meet to discuss good works that may benefit from our funding.

This December, our colleagues, Gemma Baldock and Keeley Parry brought two wonderful projects to the Foundation’s attention that specifically concentrate their efforts on supporting those less fortunate at Christmas time.

The Foundation was very moved by the loving support offered by both charities to people who are not able to enjoy Christmas Day as so many of us do in the warmth of our homes, celebrating with family. To assist these two charities in their wonderful efforts to make Christmas special for everyone, the Foundation decided to pledge a sum of £500 to each organisation to help them continue their fantastic outreach work.

Contact The Elderly Community Christmas – £500

This caring national charity strives to alleviate loneliness in older people by organising social gatherings. Community Christmas is their special December campaign, necessary because most people love Christmas, but not everyone gets to enjoy the day as much as they would like on account of living alone. The aim of Community Christmas is to give lonely older people a place to go and a fun day out to celebrate the festive season. Our donation will pay for 50 people to have a wonderful time on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day used to be such a sad, miserable time for me. Now, I could smile all day and enjoy other people’s company.

Rotary Club of Medway Sunlight Trust Christmas Lunch – £500

This Christmas Day project provides a hot, festive dinner for homeless people and families in crisis. In addition, they use the opportunity to provide fresh, warm clothing for the homeless and food for them to take away. Volunteer barbers and hairdressers assist with haircuts and shaves, and other Rotary volunteers are there to provide all-important companionship and a person to chat with on Christmas Day.  Our donation will be used to buy food for the Christmas lunch.

May we take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and peace-filled Christmas.
